The inaugural biennial Urban Missional Institute Symposium will be launched on October 20 and 21, 2017. The symposium will serve as a platform for people to engage in dialogue around the ideas of faith, urbanism, and social engagement through the symposium theme “Connecting Faith and the City for Good.”
Through lectures and presentations of papers by local and national leaders and emerging scholars, the symposium will address the Church’s continuing need to combat classism, racism, and sexism. Also, in conjunction with the Academy of Preachers, young preachers between the ages of 16-24 will have the opportunity to contribute to the dialogue through sermons.
The Urban Missional Institute seeks to foster opportunities for dialogue, research, and strategic planning between advocates, students, and scholars who seek to make positive economic and spiritual impacts in their communities in the fields of urbanism and social engagement.
